Updates! Updates! News! News!

IM A FINALIST!

That photography contest I had entered back like a month ago contacted me back!  Newsday (long island paper) let me know my photo was selected as a finalist and will be in this saturdays paper!  I'm so happy it got chosen, but more-so, allowed in.  I had recently changed emails so while they were contacting me about my photo, stupid me wasn't checking my old email!! So! i discovered this in time/little late luckily and I had called the lady to give in my information.  She asked me questions like: are you a professional, what's your age, where do you live, tell me about the photo.  In case you were wondering, the photo that was selected was "Lovers" (refer to beach photography or my deviant art). Thank god she got in touch with the editor to let her know that i was still existent because now it will be in the paper and I am still a valid finalist! YAYAY.
Here are answers to those questions when she interviewed me, along with the photo:

1. Yes, I consider myself a photographer. I have been shooting for 5 years now. I am a freelance/independent shooter. Professionally though, I don't consider myself that.
2. My full name is Lisa Heimerle.
3. I am currently 19 years old.
4. I live in Smithtown.
5. I titled this photo "Lovers". It was shot at Short Beach in Smithtown where the rock is off the coast and into the waters of the Long Island Sound. I love this photo because it evokes the powerful emotion of love and dependance. I love that fact that they are cut off from the main land and society. I think this photo goes to show that these people (as well as others) are better off by themselves, without the influence of others. On the other hand, all they need is each other, a good friend, a lover. They are lonely yet connected and its the irony, which really gets me. I decided to to this photograph because it caught my eye. When I see something that makes me think a little more about what is going on, I try to translate that through my camera and into a photo. I do not know who these people are, but I do know that they were good friends/lovers, having a good time. Further, I think the black and white gives it a little something extra.

______________

Anyways, I went out on a photoshoot.  Nothing to extreme, just revisited Long Beach around the time was the sun was setting.  I absolutely love what wonders the sun can do with lighting and all that.  Here are a select few.  Nothing to intense, just some light work and silhouettes exercises.  Model: Jnet.

okies okies, i'll keep you updated! I'm sorry its been such a long gap in between.  I've been away from the computer.
